Just as the cold weather starts to bite, cable faults caused power cuts in several towns and villages on Sunday and Monday.
Enemalta Corporation said that on Monday at 8.30 a.m. the electricity supply was interrupted in parts of Valletta and in parts of Marsa.
Measures were taken to isolate the fault and to restore supply in the shortest time possible. Electricity to certain parts of Valletta was restored by 10.24 a.m. and in Marsa by 11.50 a.m. The service in the other parts of Valletta was restored at 12.15 p.m.
On Sunday, the electricity supply was interrupted just after midnight in parts of Rabat, Dingli, Mtarfa and in parts of Ta' Qali, again due to a cable fault.
Immediate measures were taken to supply these areas through an alternative source and the power was restored some four hours later, the corporation said.
Also on Sunday the electricity service was interrupted at 12.55 p.m. in parts of Qormi, Zebbug and Siggiewi. The service was restored at 14.45 p.m.
However, parts of the same town were hit again between 8.30 p.m. and 9.20 p.m. due to network restrictions caused by the same cable fault.
Enemalta said it regretted any inconvenience caused.
