Obituary

ABELA. On January 23, at St Luke's Hospital, ALFRED, aged 62, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Catholic Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his loving wife Doris née Tabone, his children Josef and his wife Sylvia, Adrian and his wife Sabrina and his dearest grandchildren Mathias, Michaela, Marie and Sven-Goran, his brothers, in-laws, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Our Lady of the Annunciation parish church, Tarxien, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated.

ZAMMIT. On January 23, at St Luke's Hospital, DOLORES, of Sta Venera, aged 57, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Joe, her children Marie Claire and Antoine, her mother Salvina and her father Lawrence, her brothers and sisters Rita, Twanny, Leli, Mario, Karmenu and Joe, her in-laws Mary, Connie, Doris and Antida and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Sta Venera parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m. followed by interment at Qrendi cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be appreciated. Lord grant her eternal rest.

Requiem Masses

A Mass for the repose of the soul of ANTHONY (Tony) AGIUS (ex-musician and ex-Rediffusion collector) will be said tomorrow at 6.30 p.m. at St Publius parish church, Floriana, a month after his demise. Sadly missed by his wife Mary, sons and daughter and their respective families.

Teachers needed

The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is inviting applications from teachers for Saturday morning courses in arts, music and crafts.

Lessons are in drama, both for juniors and for seniors; art, including basic design, still life, history of art and modeling; music, which will include pianoforte, flute, solo singing and group singing; and crafts, which will include gilding, filigree and lace.

Day Of Devotion

The first in a series of days of devotion to St Rita will be held at St Augustine parish church in Valletta on Thursday.

Religious functions during the day will be dedicated to devotions.

Leadership Training

The youth organisation Young Light is inviting young people interested in acquiring leadership skills for a leadership training weekend at Savio College in Dingli from February 3 to 5.

The trainer will be youth worker Gordon Pace, assisted by a team of experienced co-trainers.

This is the second training session being organised by Young Light and is completely focused on the decision making and creativity process which every leader faces every day.

Lepers Day

World Lepers Day, founded by Raoul Follereau in 1954, will be commemorated on Sunday. On this occasion the International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations, ILEP, renews its commitment to fight to achieve a world where all persons affected by leprosy have access to the necessary treatment, rehabilitation and care.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of ILEP.

Tachograph Workshops

The Malta Transport Authority said that application forms for the operation of workshops for the installation, calibration, repair and inspection of analogue tachographs, digital tachographs and vehicle speed limitation devices may be obtained from its offices at Sa Maison Road, Floriana during office hours.

Sacred Music

A concert of sacred music with an orchestra and choir, under the direction of Mro. Fr John Galea, will be held on Friday at 7.30 p.m. at St Julians parish church. The concert is being held with the collaboration of the Ministry for Tourism and Culture. Everyone is invited to attend.
