Labour MEP John Attard Montalto yesterday filed a judicial protest in which he called on two editors to withdraw false allegations in which they claimed, through their media, that he had privately travelled to Mexico on the European Parliament's funds.

Dr Attard Montalto filed the protest against the editor of The Independent on Sunday Noel Grima and the editor of Net Television and Media.Link Communications Louiselle Vassallo.

He explained that on Sunday they were responsible for the publication and broadcast of allegations that he had travelled to Mexico on the Parliament's funds.

This was false and libellous as, Dr Montalto explained, he had travelled as part of a joint parliamentary committee formed by the European Parliament and the Mexican Parliament.

Lawyer Gianfranco Gauci signed the writ.
