The Labour Party is to draw up a Gozo development plan, Opposition Leader Alfred Sant said.
Addressing party delegates in Gozo on Saturday, Dr Sant said Gozo needed a plan that focused on job creating activities because unemployment was a more serious problem in Gozo than in Malta.
He said Gozo needed to be considered a region with its own particular needs and, therefore, it required appropriate policies.
He said the MLP's development plan would include the social aspect, notably health, education and the environment.
Dr Sant said Labour believed that manufacturing industry could make a return to Gozo and tourism could be given a fresh boost. The self-employed also need to be given new forms of assistance, he said.
