Four people undergoing treatment for substance abuse were presented with a certificate for successfully completing the formative part of the Sedqa Nalcom programme.
This phase of the programme requires regular participation by the individuals in groups with their respective key worker for three months.
George Grech, Sedqa's clinical director, presented the certificates in the presence of Jean Claude Cardona, Sedqa's operations director. Nalcom is a medically assisted community-based rehabilitation programme whereby the participants would have undergone detoxification and supported interventions to attain abstinence from opiates. Sedqa has been offering this programme in various forms since 1998, regularly updating it according to emerging needs of the clients using the service.
Twelve individuals undergoing residential rehabilitation at Komunità Santa Marija have also successfully ended a My Web course provided by Sedqa staff. The course helps such people in self-development and to re-integrate into society.
