The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) launched the FINA Waterpolo Rules 2005-2009 booklet during a two-day clinic at the University Residence, Lija this weekend.

The publication, sponsored by the association's main sponsor Wilkinson Sword, includes the rules of the game and a number of amendments that were approved by FINA recently.

The changes were explained to local coaches, players and officials by Gianni Lonzi, chairman of the FINA waterpolo technical committee, the main speaker of the event.

"During the last FINA Congress, some important changes in the waterpolo rules were made, and these will definitely have a positive effect on the game in general," Robbie Ebejer, the ASA president, said.

"The ASA felt it was necessary to organise this clinic and issue this booklet. The rules of the game will form an integral part in the curriculum that is being prepared for the Coaching License Course."

Ebejer thanked FINA and Lonzi for accepting to conduct the clinic, and Simon Debono, marketing manager at Miller Distributors, local agents of Wilkinson Sword, for their support in the promotion of waterpolo in Malta.
