Preparing children for eternal life

There is an urgent need to imbue children and young people with the Faith, because many of them are searching for a sense in their life.

The family's way of life has changed in many ways, especially where the importance of spiritual education is concerned. Many parents are very worried about their children's schooling and the standard of education which they have to reach at a young age.

This is a good thing. But sadly it seems that parents prefer to send their children to extracurricular, private tuition rather than to Catechism lessons, leading children to think that sound religious knowledge is less important and will not help them in their lives.

Many parents are making compromises, allowing children to do as they please, letting them stay out until the early hours or sleeping over at their friends' houses. Everything is acceptable nowadays.

Parents try to explain to their children that their body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and that it is not their own property because it was bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. But their children give the impression that they do not understand because they are spiritually blind and ignorant.

However we have to be very grateful to our loving Father and persevere in our prayers because there are still strong and mature Christian families who are encouraging their children to attend MUSEUM catechism lessons or other activities organised by the many Catholic movements.

We all have to persevere and find encouragement and hope in the Lord's love and mercy.
