The path leading to the area known as Il-Munxar in St Thomas Bay has been blocked. The padlock on the gate, which is usually locked, has been changed and the area adjacent to the gate has been built upon so the public is now denied access.
I have been using this pathway for the past 30 years and it is the only way to reach the coast. I have spoken to René Scicluna, who claims to be the owner of the land at Il-Munxar, who has blocked access to the pathway. (There is no notice from MEPA in this regard). On Sunday, Mr Scicluna and a group of hunters, including Lino Farrugia, secretary of the Federation of Hunters, Trappers and Conservationists, blocked access to strollers.
At around 12.30 p.m, Labour MP George Vella turned up and complained to Mr Scicluna. But the hunters and trappers were still there after 1 p.m. Is this another attempt to ruin this area?
