Every time I pass through Triq il-Gardiel, Marsascala, a sense of dread creeps over me as I check whether any damage has been done to the niche of St Spiridion.  

This niche, which dates to 1909, is now surrounded by construction material and cranes as a block of apartments is being built beside it.  

I wonder why the niche has not been moved to a more secure and appropriate place. Must it be damaged for action to be taken?
