Teachers and heads of school from the École Elementaire Publique A et M. Mollie at St Georges d'Esperanche, France, the Primo Circolo Didattico of Settimo Torinese (Turin), Italy, and Myllyojan Koulu, Oulu, in Finland, recently met their Maltese counterparts at the Hookham Frere Primary School in Pietà to evaluate and plan the activities for the Comenius project, which is now in its second year. The Finnish colleagues were made doubly welcome, since this was their first visit to Malta. The Maltese children made the guests feel at home from the moment they walked into the school, with each class presenting a welcome programme. The first two days were dedicated to an evaluation of each school's activities during the first year, which were deemed to have been very successful. It was agreed that the main objective - that of exposing students to the myths, legends and celebrations of each country - had been reached. Activities for the second year will focus on children's traditional dancing and songs. On the last day of the schools' visit, the guests were taken to Gozo, a trip they thoroughly enjoyed. Members of the group are seen here during their visit to Malta.
