It was a proud moment for pupils of Achille Ferris Primary School when they met the well known writer Kilin (Michael C. Spiteri). This affable gentleman, who has lived in Msida for most of his life, was warmly greeted by the children who were thrilled to meet such a distinguished personality.

Prior to his visit, the teachers prepared the students by reading out literary works by Kilin and then put up charts depicting his biography and life achievements. On the day Kilin turned up with many of his drawings, which he discussed with the pupils. These watercolours intrigued them all because many of them showed familiar local scenes.

Kilin then read out some of his poems, like Siesta Maltija, L-Iben and Lelluxa, explaining why and when he wrote them. The children were very interested and bombarded the 88-year-old author with questions when he spoke about his personal life and related a few wartime anecdotes. He also shared jokes with them, which showed he is still very young in spirit.

The session ended with the children reading out poems like Hlejju Bambin, Ix-Xita and Mejju Sbejja, with the author also signing copies of his books such as Tlikki Tlikki ma' Wenzu and Burdati.

This event blended well with the school's key issues regarding art and literary appreciation, besides enriching the school's development plan.

It was indeed another great moment in the history of the Msida school.
