The Confederation of Trade Unions has welcomed the European Parliament's decision to reject the Port Services Directive, describing the vote as a victory for European port workers. The great majority of parliamentarians, including the Maltese MEPs, had averted the risk of many port workers losing their jobs, the CMTU said.
It said the vote clearly showed how mistaken people were when they used to argue that it was the leaders of the big countries in Europe who decided issues.
