A 19-year-old man has been charged with conspiring to deal in 125 ecstasy pills and with trafficking in the drug.

The man admitted to trafficking in ecstasy, the possession of the drug in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use and the simple possession of cocaine on and before October 2005.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman ordered a ban on the publication of the man's name to ensure his safety after hearing that he had helped the police in their investigations.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech is prosecuting.

Lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta were defence counsel.
