One heart transplant was performed at St Luke's Hospital last year (up to October) and none in 2003-2004, Health Minister Louis Deguara said in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday. One transplant was made in 2001 and 2002.

The minister explained that the number of transplants was limited by the availability of compatible donors. He was replying to a question by Jason Azzopardi (PN).
