Two men are expected to be arraigned today and charged with their involvement in a series of thefts including two armed hold-ups.
In a statement to the media the police said that following intensive investigations into recently reported incidents of theft, the police have arrested two men, a 21-year-old from Kalkara and a 42-year-old from Marsascala.
They are to be charged in connection with armed hold-ups at a shop in Pietà and at a doctor's clinic in Zabbar and with their involvement in theft from a pharmacy in Blata l-Bajda and from a shop in Valletta. They will also be charged over the attempted theft from a pharmacy in Marsascala as well as theft from two cars.
The police reassured the public that they are working hard to solve existing crimes and, more importantly, to prevent others.
They called on the public's cooperation to report anything they may deem suspicious in full confidence by calling 2122 1111.
