Road closed to traffic at Hal Far

The stretch of road in Hal Far Road from the junction by the army barracks to the junction by Triq Ghar Hasan, Hal Far was yesterday closed to traffic.

The Malta Transport Authority (ADT) said the closure was a safety measure following the storms that hit the islands over the weekend.

The ADT had originally been planning to close the stretch on Friday in view of the road upgrading project that is being co-financed by the EU.

The authority said it was introducing the following traffic management scheme until further notice: Traffic coming from Hal Far Road (airport side) will be diverted through the Industrial Estate and Triq Ghar Hasan on to Hal Far Road near the Freeport. Public transport bus route number 13 in the direction of the Freeport from Malta International Airport will remain unchanged.

Traffic and public transport bus route number 13 from Hal Far Road (Freeport side) will be diverted through Triq Ghar Hasan, the Industrial Estate and onto Hal Far Road in the vicinity of Lyster Barracks.

Access through the stretch of Hal Far Road under construction will only be permitted to the establishments along the road.
