Vincenzo Bugeja Boys Secondary School in Sta Venera is currently working with other partners schools from Poland, Germany and Lithuania on a Comenius project entitled "Mysterious and peculiar places in my region".
After a very fruitful meeting held in Malta last May, all participating partners met at Regine Hildebrandt School in Magdeburg, Germany, between November 7 and 12.
The Malta team was made up of project co-ordinator Paul Gauci, and member Sharon Sammut, together with two students - Jean Karl Cauchi and James Winters.
The Maltese team's friendship with these partners was further enhanced throughout the week: they shared common values, exchanged ideas and experienced cultural diversities.
In Magdeburg, both teachers and students had time for school and classroom experiences. The group participated in cultural activities, visiting historical places, the History and Natural Museums, the theatre and a TV station.
During their last meeting, the teams planned a work schedule for the following months until the next meeting in May this year, to be held in Lithuania.
At present, the school is also working with other five European schools in Poland, Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria and Romania, to set up another Comenius project entitled "Palaces and castles - History and legends".
The school headmaster, Emmanuel Cutajar, who is also co-ordinator of this new project, recently joined his partners at Zloty Potok in Piasek, Poland, to take part in the Comenius preparatory visit and meeting.
During their visit, the participating partners visited the Palace of the Raczijnsky family and the castles of Mirow, Bobolice, Wawel Castle in Krakow and Olsztyn Castle.
They also met the mayor of Zloty Potok and the teachers and students of Gymnazium im Armii Krajowej in Piasek.
