Another acitivity connected with Innovation Week 2005, organised for the first time this year by the Edward de Bono Foundation, was a Six Thinking Hats workshop with the Employment and Training Corporation's management team. The activity took place in December at the Institute of Tourism Studies.

This full-day workshop helped participants achieve a common understanding and appreciation of "thinking in parallel" and how applying this simple but very powerful thinking framework makes debate more constructive. The importance of creating space for creativity and applying lateral techniques to provoke one's mind was discussed and applied in practice during the workshop.

A comment by one of the participants said: "This training reminded me to follow a systematic process of problem solving and decision making.

This, being delivered to all members of the management team, will definitely help us all tackle issues in a professional way and as a team".

The workshop was organised and delivered by Sandra Azzopardi, an Edward de Bono certified trainer and an ETC employee.

The management of ETC thoroughly enjoyed the training and found it very beneficial. They appreciated the various benefits that the various sectors of society, including the unemployed, could receive from training in thinking skills.
