New signing Patrice Evra could make his debut for Manchester United in today's first leg of their League Cup semi-final at Blackburn Rovers, manager Alex Ferguson said yesterday.

The 24-year-old French international defender completed his move from Monaco yesterday.

"We will see him in training, but it is a possibility," Ferguson said.

"He's had only something like a two-week break and has been training all the time."

United may start at Ewood Park without some of their senior players as Ferguson rotates his squad ahead of Saturday's local Premier League derby against Manchester City.

But Ferguson is likely to repeat his approach to United's victory in the last round, when Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand came off the bench to secure a 3-1 win at Birmingham City.

"At Birmingham we included some of the first-team squad to make sure we got through and hopefully we can do the same again," said Ferguson, whose mainly reserve line-up were held to a goalless draw by minor league Burton Albion in the FA Cup on Sunday.
