With record-breaking sales in 2005, Lexus has retained its title as America's top-selling luxury brand for the sixth consecutive year. The luxury brand reported total year-end sales of 302,895 units, up 5.5 per cent over last year's record-breaking sales.

The introduction of the Lexus RX 400h, the world's first luxury hybrid, to the range helped boost sales with 20,674 units sold in 2005. The new Lexus GS range also had its best ever sales year with 33,457 units sold.

The Lexus sales total, along with the Toyota and Scion brands, was part of a record year for Toyota in America. Total sales reached 2.26 million vehicles, up 10.1 per cent over 2004.

With ten consecutive years of record-breaking sales, this marks the second time in the company's 48-year history in America that it has reached sales of over two million vehicles.
