Malcolm Mifsud, 20, of Sliema, was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm500 after he was charged with theft and attempted theft.

Mr Mifsud was accused of stealing from a greengrocer in Zebbug on the night of May 9 and with attempted theft from a residence adjacent to the shop.

He was further charged with relapsing.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Police Inspector Maria Stella Attard, who prosecuted, said the accused was also facing charges in connection with rape.
