England midfielder Frank Lampard can expect Chelsea to offer him a contract that would keep him with the English champions for the rest of his career, coach Jose Mourinho said.
"I believe before his contract ends Chelsea will offer him an agreement until the end of his career," Mourinho told the London Evening Standard newspaper on Wednesday.
"He has the kind of deal which I doubt any other club in the world could beat. I would not change him for anyone. His performances from the beginning to the end in any circumstances are incomparable."
Lampard, who last month set a Premier League record of 164 consecutive appearances, was voted second behind Barcelona's Ronaldinho in the 2005 FIFA World Player of the Year poll.
He is Chelsea's leading scorer with 13 goals, second only to Man. United's Ruud van Nistelrooy in the Premier League.
¤ Birmingham have signed Celtic striker Chris Sutton on a free transfer, the Premier League club said yesterday. Sutton, 32, who scored 86 goals in 199 appearances during 5-1/2 years in Scotland, has signed until the end of the season, Birmingham said on their website. Sutton became Britain's most expensive player when he joined Blackburn Rovers from Norwich City for five millions pounds in 1994. He moved to Chelsea for £10 million in 1999 but scored only once in 28 league appearances before signing for Celtic.
