Silver screen star Joseph Calleia, who took part in no fewer than 57 motion pictures produced by some of the most renowned film companies in the US, is being commemorated by a bust in Rabat.
The bust, the work of sculptor Anton Agius, has been placed at Saqqajja Square, adjacent to Bank of Valletta branch.
It came about on the initiative of Eman Bonnici.
Rabat mayor Frank Fabri said Mr Calleia, who passed away 30 years ago, hailed from Rabat and went on to become one of Hollywood's most accomplished artists.
The monument was sponsored by Bank of Valletta, and Rabat branch manager Joseph Borg said the bank wanted to pay homage to "this Maltese artist who made a name for himself on the international scene".
