Zagorakis offered role with Greece

Greece captain Theodoros Zagorakis has been offered a job with the national team should he decide to quit playing.

The 34-year-old, who led Greece to victory in Euro 2004, plays for PAOK Salonika but has indicated that he may quit soon.

Vassilis Gagatsis, the head of the EPO, the Greek soccer federation, said he had offered Zagorakis a role working alongside coach Otto Rehhagel.

"I think he's the most appropriate choice for this, a manager who will decide on everything, from the team's strips, trips and opponents in co-operation with the coach, of course," Gagatsis said.

"He (Zagorakis) believes that he won't be able to carry on because of his frame of mind and age. That's already been discussed between him and the coach and I think he will remain with us for the coming period."
