Art for the new year

The Bank of Valletta calendar for the new year features 13 paintings by as many artists who have, to date, had their works exhibited in the bank's series of retrospective exhibitions.

The artists, namely Antoine Camilleri, Frank Portelli, Marco Cremona, Vincent Apap, Esprit Barthet, Gabriel Caruana, Raymond Pitre`, Pawl Carbonaro, Harry Alden, Alfred Chircop, George Fenech, Ganni Bonnici and Anton Agius, are each represented by one of their works featured on the respective months of the 2006 calendar.

This year is the seventh consecutive year during which Bank of Valletta supported Maltese artists by mounting exhibitions of their works and giving the opportunity to the public to appreciate the vast talent we can all be proud of.

Bank of Valletta's calendar for 2006 is innovative in that it comprises a mixture of works and styles in various media by some of the island's most celebrated artists of the 20th century. It reflects the bank's commitment to promote art and culture and to seek ways and opportunities to promote Maltese artists who have made a name for themselves and made the country proud.
