Rangers manager Alex McLeish welcomed new striker Kris Boyd to the club on Friday and announced plans to sign a couple more players.
The Glasgow club lured the Scottish Premier League's top scorer Boyd, 22, from Kilmarnock on a three-and-a-half year deal on Thursday night.
McLeish said: "I would like to bring in a couple more players - we certainly want to strengthen in January. If Kris is the only one then it won't be for want of trying to bring in others."
He added: "Kris is a proven goal scorer and has scored against the top teams and given a chance in the box, he has showed the prowess with both feet and in the air."
Rangers, fourth in the standings, 15 points behind Celtic, have qualified for the knock-out stages of the Champions League for the first time.
Boyd, with nine SPL goals this term, said he would battle for a first team slot.
He told reporters: "You have to look at everything else and I have faith in my own ability and if I get the chance I will take it from there.
"But there was no point coming if I didn't think I would add anything to the team, so I feel as if I can."
Rangers face basement club Dunfermline tomorrow with a huge injury list.
McLeish said: "We have six or seven out, but we still go into the game with confidence."
