Man dies after falling into well

A 57-year-old man from Siggiewi died late yesterday afternoon after he fell into a well while on his way to his field.

According to a police report, at about 5 p.m. the police were informed that a man had just fallen into a well in a field in the area known as Ta' San Lawrenz, limits of Siggiewi.

The police rushed to the spot, where members of the Civil Protection Department were called to empty the well so that the man could be brought up. He was certified dead on the spot.

Duty Magistrate Abigail Lofaro appointed a number of referees to help her in her inquiry and ordered an autopsy on the body to be carried out today.
