Two men were yesterday charged with conspiring to deal in 14.3 kilogrammes of cannabis resin on and before Thursday.
Egyptian national Ekramy Abdel Aziz Mobarak, 30, of St Paul's Bay, and Andrea Zammit, 54, of Rabat, were arraigned separately before Magistrate Silvio Meli.
The two men pleaded not guilty to conspiring to deal in cannabis resin, trafficking in the drug and its possession in circumstances denoting it was not for their personal use.
Mr Zammit was also charged with the illegal possession of protected bird species.
Both men were remanded in custody and, on a request by the prosecution, the magistrate ordered the confiscation of their assets according to law.
Police Inspectors Dennis Theuma prosecuted.
