Schalke 04 are considering Fenerbahce coach Christoph Daum as a replacement for Ralf Rangnick who was sacked almost two weeks ago, the club's general manager Rudi Assauer said.
"Yes, I have Daum on my list," he was quoted as saying.
Rangnick, whose team failed to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League, initially announced he would not renew his contract when it expired in 2006.
But he was sacked after making what appeared to be a lap of honour before the start of the Bundesliga side's next game.
Daum, whose contract at Fenerbahce runs until 2007, has seemed unsettled at the Turkish club.
He has previously coached Bundesliga clubs Cologne, Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen but has had a stormy relationship with Assauer in the past.
Assauer said his personal relations with Daum would not stand in the way of a deal.
