The police are holding two men in connection with the discovery of over 14 kilogrammes of cannabis resin yesterday.

The police said the raid followed a surveillance operation over the past days. It was at about 1.30 a.m. when the police stopped a car driven by an Egyptian man who lives in Malta.

A search in the vehicle yielded 14.5 kilogrammes of cannabis resin cut into 59 pieces, the police said.

The 30-year-old Egyptian was arrested and taken for interrogation. Subsequently, a Maltese man aged 54 was also arrested.

Several individuals are expected to be arraigned on drug charges in the coming days.
