Staff from the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment have installed an automatic irrigation system at the site of the afforestation project at Salina Park which was launched last October.

The irrigation system follows the planting of 2,000 trees at the park through the sponsorship of HSBC Cares For The Environment Fund. Ministry workers have fenced off the area to protect the new trees during the early stages of their growth.

The next phase of the "Tree4U" campaign will continue next month, when the fund will be involved in another major tree planting event in another part of the island.
