Steve Davis fended off a gutsy fight-back from Stephen Hendry on Friday night to reach a career milestone - his 100th major final. The 48-year-old legend beat Hendry 9-6 and will face Ding Junhui or Joe Perry in the final of the UK Championship today.
Davis will contest the UK final for the first time in 15 years after another stunning victory in York, sending the statisticians racing to their record books. The way he's performed in his four previous matches suggests the world No.15 can collect the £70,000 first prize. Twenty-five years after his first ever UK final appearance, Davis moved into his 10th final with an unexpected demolition of his arch rival.
It's the first time since 1993 he's beaten Hendry in a ranking event and now becomes the oldest player to contest a ranking final since 53-year-old Rex Williams in 1986.
