Works by Carmelo Pace in concert tomorrow

The German Embassy and the German-Maltese Circle will hold a vocal and instrumental concert at the Isouard Hall of the Manoel Theatre in Valletta tomorrow at 7.30 p.m., the last event on their calendar for this year.

The concert will feature works by Maltese composer Carmelo Pace and by German composers such as Brahms, Mendelssohn, Weber, Lachner, Burgmüller, Schubert and Handel.

Well-known clarinetist Godfrey Mifsud, who is reading for a masters degree in clarinet performance at Christchurch University in Canterbury, will perform two solo pieces and accompany soprano Andriana Fenech Yordanova in the rendering of Lachner's Auf Flügeln des Gesanges.

Ms Fenech Yordanova, who is of Bulgarian origin, has interpreted various roles from operas and operettas. She will sing arias by German composers as well as Maestro Pace's Nixtieq li kont ghasfur.

Also taking part is baritone Joseph Huber. Accompanying will be Caroline Calleja. Ronnie Debattista has been entrusted with the coordination of the programme.
