Members of the public will be able to meet members of the Kilimanjaro 2 Challenge team face-to-face today as the volunteers will be setting up a stand at City Gate, Valletta, as part of their marathon to raise Lm38,000 for the construction of a convent in the Ethiopian village of Bulbula.

Starting at 9 a.m. KC2 members, clad in their blue team kit, will be collecting donations in Reaching Out donation boxes and will also be answering questions about the challenge and mission.

The stand will be up until 8 p.m. but will be closed between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. during which time the dedicated volunteers will be training to climb the 6,000-metre-high Mount Kilimanjaro in two weeks' time.

Last year the Kilimanjaro Challenge team climbed Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro and successfully raised Lm38,000 to build a school in Bulbula. This year the KC2 team will attempt the climb again to raise money to construct the convent for the nuns running the school.

KC2 is one of the projects falling under the patronage of Reaching Out, a charitable group that raises funds for various humanitarian projects in Third World countries.

The public can send an SMS on 5061 8076 to donate Lm2, on 5061 8927 to donate Lm3 and on 5061 9203 for Lm5.

Donations can also be made at Bank of Valletta account number 40014418635, HSBC account 061020731050 and at the APS account 200003165100.
