The House of Representatives yesterday expressed its condolences to Labour MP Evarist Bartolo following the passing away of his father Louis on Sunday.
Condolences were expressed by the Speaker, Anton Tabone, Tonio Borg, Leader of the House and Charles Mangion, deputy leader of the Opposition.
Mr Bartolo thanked the House and paid tribute to his father as a good man, excellent father, grandfather and dedicated teacher. He recalled that when, in 1992, he told his father he would stand for election as an MLP candidate, at the same time as his mother was attending a PN mass meeting, the advice that his father gave him was that whatever he did, the important thing was to take it seriously, or not go for it. This was the advice he would most cherish.
The House yesterday also expressed its condolences to the family of former Labour MP John J. Borg who died on Saturday.
