Yesterday's two BoV Premier League matches at the Hibs Ground were cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, the Malta FA said in a brief statement.

The rain which fell during all day on Friday and late on Saturday rendered the pitch at Corradino soggy and unable to hold play.

The same situation prevailed at the Tedesco Stadium. The Hamrun ground was to host two Division One fixtures but these were called off early in the morning by the stadium's management.

At the Hibs Ground, Pietà Hotspurs were to play Hamrun Spartans and Hibernians versus Floriana in the second match.

The Division One programme included the top-of-the-table clash between St George's and Tarxien. San Gwann vs St Andrew's was the other match.

This was the second Division One programme to the called off this season because of rain after the one of November 26, also at Hamrun.

No alternatives were provided yesterday but the Malta FA is expected to announce the new dates today.

There are two Premier League matches scheduled for tomorrow, a public holiday, at the National Stadium. At 2 p.m. Valletta play Marsaxlokk and at 4 p.m. Birkir-kara take on Sliema Wanderers.
