The fourth and final leg of this year's Birkirkara 5K Road Running Series will be held on Tuesday. The series is organised by Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club in conjunction with the Birkirkara Local Council and under the auspices of the Malta Amateur Athletic Association.

At present, 32 seconds separate the top four in the men's series with Mark Herrera leading by 11 seconds a group made up of Drew Lang, Brian Magri and James Douglas.

Carol Walsh has a 56-second lead on Pembroke Athleta team-mate Lisa Marie Bezzina. Walsh is likely to win Tuesday's race again to retain the honour she won last year.

Gerald Grech won this undulating race in 15:47 last year. Herrera clocked 15:43 in the first leg of the series at Ta' Qali. Tuesday's race starts at 9 a.m. in front of the Local Council offices. Late registrations will be accepted on race day, 30 minutes before the start.

The Birkirkara by-pass will be closed for traffic. Further information and registration forms are available on www.bkarastjoseph.com.
