Del Piero equals Boniperti scoring record

Alessandro Del Piero's two goals for Juventus in their Champions League game at Rapid Vienna have brought him level with Giampiero Boniperti as the club's all-time top scorer.
Del Piero's goals in Wednesday's Group A match took his tally to 182 in all competitions.
Boniperti's goals, 178 of which were scored in Serie A, came between 1947 and 1961. Del Piero has struck 127 times in the Italian championship with the rest of his goals coming in domestic and international cup competitions.
"He is a player of great quality and a great lad as well," Boniperti, who was president of Juventus when Del Piero joined in 1993, said.
"This head-to-head for the record has helped me to become known to a new generation who only knew me previously as a president of Juventus rather than a player and record scorer. He's put me in the spotlight again at 77 years of age which is incredible."
Del Piero, who has been restricted to the bench for much of the season, has scored 38 goals in the Champions League and European Cup.
"I am happy to share this record with Boniperti but it is not only goals that make a great forward. Boni-perti has done so much, and more, for this club," the Italy international said.
