Students urged to do voluntary work

With the theme Volunteering... The Only One Missing Is U, the KPS-Chaplaincy voluntary sub-committee is urging university students to give some of their time, energy and natural gifts to others through participating in voluntary work initiatives.
Activities marking the 20th International Volunteer Day were held on Monday and Tuesday and were aimed at enticing students to take up voluntary work initiatives and to mark the efforts made by other students who generously give of themselves to others.
A Free Gifts Campaign offers various projects in which students can participate. So far in this first semester, 120 students have helped out in 10 different projects.
A free CD with a directory of useful information about organisations with which students can engage in voluntary work was given out. The CD also contains tips for those who will join such ventures.
Banners and posters beckoned students to join established organisations such as Caritas, Appogg and Nature Trust and also to carry out voluntary work in parishes.
