Swieqi's requirements

Swieqi is a fully developed modern town. However for various reasons the place lacks several basic elements which are typical of developed Maltese towns and villages.

Here is a list of what I consider to be the basic requirements for the immediate improvement of Swieqi:

¤ Formation of an identity;

¤ Creation of a community (plans in hand);

¤ Construction of a social centre (to be used by one and all);

¤ Development of sports facilities;

¤ Construction of a link with Pembroke (plans in hand);

¤ Immediate solution with regard to entry into/exit from Swieqi;

¤ Creation of one-way traffic systems;

¤ Intra-community transport (trenino style);

¤ Immediate improvement to the street lighting and other general matters which will help to improve the well-being of Swieqi.

Naturally this list is not exhaustive and I invite residents from Swieqi to publicly air their views as to what needs to be done in our locality so as to improve matters.

Meanwhile I invite the authorities to dedicate more of their resources and energies towards our locality. I honestly believe that various governments have been absolute misers with this locality. It is a town that has given the state a great deal in financial terms and has taken a pittance in return. Unless immediate action is taken, the future of Swieqi is really bleak.
