I recently signed a contract to acquire one of the Housing Authority's apartments in Mtarfa, but later realised that I would be having huge problems with the water and electricity supply.

It seems that MEPA has not issued the compliance certificate yet, even though the Housing Authority has drawn up the contracts, received the money and left families stranded in apartments they cannot use.

I had to hire a generator to finish installing the bathroom. I ordered furniture, appliances and many other things two months before signing the contract; they were delivered a month after I signed the contract. I even planned for my children to change schools during the December holidays. But it all seems in vain.

There are families in the same block who now have to pay the bank loan for the new apartment while still paying the rent for their current home. And who is responsible for the valuables in these apartments if they are stolen?

We have found no support whatsoever from the Housing Authority. Could the minister responsible for housing look into the matter and act quickly as this issue concerns people who have had problems, which is why they acquired a subsidised apartment.
