HP has unveiled significant additions and enhancements to its Total Print Management (TPM) solution, an integrated suite of devices, management software and services designed to help businesses streamline their imaging and printing infrastructure, and to manage it more efficiently.
With these, HP leverages its long history in printing and imaging to continue its transformation of the market, enhance customer processes and information workflow, and accelerate the company's global leadership in business imaging and printing.
Innovations include enhancements to the HP Web Jetadmin platform, HP's industry leading Web-based print management solution, as well as updates to the company's portfolio of HP Output Management solutions designed for reliable document delivery.
In addition, HP unveiled the industry-first Universal Print Driver series for Windows, developed to ease deployment of new HP print drivers for IT managers. HP also introduced a management tool for easy projector networking, monitoring and configuration.
"Strategic print management is becoming the established trend as businesses begin to realise the magnitude they spend, up to three per cent of revenues, on printing, copy, faxing and scanning - even in the digital age," George Mulhern, senior vice-president, LaserJet Business, Imaging and Printing Group, HP, said.
"HP has the intelligent products, software and services to make Total Print Management a reality for our customers - helping them to become more adaptive and maximise cost savings and productivity, while minimising IT department headaches."
New products and services
To successfully achieve Total Print Management, companies can choose from a wide range of HP tools and resources that help them analyse, right-size and monitor their entire imaging and printing infrastructure. New introductions include:

Significant enhancements include new features, such as links to HP Instant Support and assisted supplies ordering, designed to further reduce the time and costs associated with managing printing environments.
Additionally, the new version includes enhanced security, tools to control access to colour printing, enhanced reporting capabilities that provide print job tracking by user and by application, and the ability to view status, page counts and supplies levels on select direct PC connected printers. ¤ One of the first gigabit EIO print servers to support IPv6, IPv4 and IPsec, the HP Jetdirect 635n IPv6/ IPsec Print Server enables printer sharing on a gigabit or Fast Ethernet network using the IPv6, IPv4 or IPsec protocols for maximum security and speed. Easily installed through any open EIO slot on a compatible HP peripheral, this new print server offers robust network security while enabling a seamless transition to the next generation of TCP/IP protocol and IPv6.
¤ Optimised to manage both file and print, the HP ProLiant DL100 G2 File Print Appliance is an easy-to-use file and print server for small workgroups or remote offices with file sharing and print serving needs.
The device offers a cost-effective solution to streamline network printing and offload print traffic from the general server. The appliance helps to lower total cost of ownership through reduced server cost options and reduces IT and helpdesk costs.
¤ Reliable and affordable, the easy-to-install HP 1284B parallel EIO card is ideal for enterprises which need parallel connectivity to support legacy IT operating systems, mainframes or older applications.
