An elderly man and his daughter were terrified in their own home as thieves forced their way into their house and after threatening them with a screwdriver made off with a sum of money yesterday.

The police said the theft occurred early in the morning in Santa Margerita Street, Siggiewi.

Investigations showed that three hooded persons forced open the main door of the residence surprising the two people inside.

No one was injured, the police said.

The amount stolen was not disclosed.

Magistrate Denis Montebello appointed a team of court experts to help in an inquiry.
