Scuderia Toro Rosso will use Michelin tyres when the Red Bull-owned team replace Minardi in Formula One next season, Michelin said.

Minardi used Bridgestone and the switch gives Michelin, who have lost Toyota and Williams, six of the 10 teams compared to seven this year.

A Michelin spokeswoman said the French manufacturer had to accept Scuderia Toro Rosso's request for tyres under regulations that oblige them to supply 60 per cent of the grid.

The decision means both Red Bull teams, with the Austrian energy drinks company also owning Ferrari-powered Red Bull Racing, will be on the same tyres in 2006.
