The Bank of Valletta L-Istrina campaign 2005 enters its second phase on Monday when three large open trucks, each carrying a gigantic piggy bank, start visiting all schools in Malta and Gozo to collect the 7,000 piggy banks with the donations made by school children.

The collection of piggy banks will take place over seven days with three collection routes being run each day. Each open truck carrying the large piggy bank will be accompanied by a volunteer and a BOV employee and will be escorted by a traffic policeman. The funds collected will be taken for counting and safekeeping at Bank of Valletta.

Piggy banks will be collected from the 2,800 classrooms in all schools in Malta and Gozo, involving about 65,000 children.

Popular personalities and members of Parliament with a link to each particular school will accompany the large piggy banks and assist in the collection.

It is planned that the funds collected, which will then be placed in one large piggy bank, will be symbolically presented to President Eddie Fenech Adami at the Palace Square, Valletta on December 22.

Bank of Valletta is pledging to top up the funds collected by the school children by Lm10,000.
