The Malta Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) yesterday presented Dar tal-Providenza with a new chair lifter van for people with a disability.

SMOM president Jamie H. Cremona presented the gift to Mgr. Lawrence Gatt, the director of Dar tal-Providenza, which offers residential care to 120 people who suffer from a disability and which runs at an annual cost of Lm1.6 million.

Each year, the association charters a flight to carry sick and elderly people and other pilgrims and volunteers on a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

It also organises a pilgrimage to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta' Pinu in Gozo.
