Enemalta Corporation is charging commercial rates for electricity at empty premises that are no longer licensed as holiday flats and duly cancelled from the list of registered premises by the Malta Tourism Authority.

On the same kind of premises the Water Services Corporation charges domestic rates. As these corporations fall under the same ministry, a clear explanation of why two weights and two measures are being applied for the same premises is long overdue.

And to further confuse the issue, Enemalta states that domestic rates will be charged when the premises are occupied. Really unbelievable!
