Exchange of lecturers
The Italo-Maltese Executive Programme for Cultural Co-operation provides for the award of a per diem allowance and the refund of travel expenses to promote the exchange each year of up to ten Italian and University of Malta academic members of staff or researchers to deliver lectures, address seminars, conduct research and discuss academic co-operation. The visits should normally last between 10 and 14 days, although shorter visits may be considered.
The per diem has to be collected by the academics personally from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome during the visit. The travel costs of Maltese academics visiting Italy are to be claimed from the academics' work resources.
Applications for this financial assistance are invited from members of the academic staff who wish to visit an Italian university or state-funded educational institution, or who wish to invite an Italian counterpart from such institutions to visit the University. The visits may take place from April 1, 2006 until the end of the year, except during academic vacation periods.
Applications should consist of a covering letter, endorsed by the staff member's Head of Department, addressed to the Director, International Office, enclosing an original letter of invitation received from the Head of Department of the Italian state-funded university or similar institution of learning, inviting the academic for the visit.
