On november 14 at 1.30 p.m. I placed a little bag of rubbish on a pile of bags in a skip in the valley road area in Marsalforn. Two skips there were full to capacity as usual and plastic bags and other rubbish was scattered around them.
As soon as I placed my little bag in the skip two green wardens approached and told me I was being warned for polluting the environment. According to their logic, since the skips were full I should have walked to Qbajjar as there are two skips available there. Qbajjar is a 20-minute walk away.
I was prudent enough to discard my rubbish in a skip instead of leaving it outside on the pavement as there has not been a rubbish collection service since October.
The wardens should have contacted the authorities to empty the skips instead of inconveniencing taxpayers. I would think it is their duty to make sure that skips are always available.
