Formula One champions Renault expect tyre partners Michelin to keep on winning next year despite rule changes that could favour Japanese rivals Bridgestone.
"There is a simple truth in Formula One; you never un-invent technology," technical director Bob Bell told the Renault F1 website.
"Michelin made significant progress under the longer life tyre rules in 2005 and also in the area of wet tyres.
"Those gains will have direct benefits for next year. We have every confidence that Michelin have the ability to develop winning tyres for 2006 and it is our responsibility, with the other teams, to ensure that happens."
Michelin won all but one of this year's races, failing only in the US Grand Prix after safety concerns led to the withdrawal of the seven teams equipped by the French manufacturer.
The governing FIA has changed the 2006 regulations, allowing tyre changes again during grands prix after forcing teams to use the same tyres for qualifying and the race this year.
Bridgestone dominated with Ferrari in 2004. Renault won eight races this year, seven with Fernando Alonso who became the youngest champion at the age of 24. Giancarlo Fisichella won the Australian season-opener.
¤ Red Bull have changed the name of their team to replace Minardi next year from Squadra Toro Rosso to Scuderia Toro Rosso. "We originally announced Squadra Toro Rosso but decided that Scuderia fits better and sounds better," said a Red Bull spokeswoman.
